ECU completes the sweep of Memphis. The Pirates became the first team in Conference USA history to blank opponents in three league series in the same season. ECU (39-16, 16-5 C-USA) did not allow a run to UCF, Southern Miss or Memphis this year. LINK

Members of the softball team found time to volunteer for The Reindeer Dash for Cash. 

"The Reindeer Dash for Cash is dedicated to keeping the legacy of Christopher S. Cash, Sr. alive and is a fund-raiser for the Capt. Christopher S. Cash Memorial Foundation of NC, Inc which annually funds scholarships at several educational institutions. (Please see Scholarship Info for scholarships available.)

Each year, the foundation will offer deserving students the financial assistance needed to pursue a higher education and the accompanying rewards of learning and character development achieved through hard work and dedication of earning a professional degree."

The Pirates once again held camp for the Dirt Devils of Washington, NC.  There were 81 girls from the ages 7-17 participating.  Not only did they do a great job with the camp, but the Dirt Devils already have donated 199 cans to the softball team for the November Food Drive.  Definitely sounds like some future Pirates were there.

Fall conditioning and practice is ready to get under way.  Walk on tryouts have been held.  Rosters and schedule for 2010 will be posted soon. 

The latest stadium news is that it is 30+ days behind schedule.    Let's hope for perfect weather between now and the middle of March.  No word on any sort of groundbreaking ceremony.  When it happens, I will have pictures.

Once again T-shirts will be made available to you prior to Christmas.  I will have more information later.

Finally, a softball stadium update: Fencing is finally being put up around the construction site. The actual construction is running about a month behind schedule which means middle to late September. If all goes well, and that is the big if, ECU's CUSA softball season should be played in a brand new stadium.
