Dear bloggers

Unfortunately for you all this is my last one!! Summer came a bit too early for us... After not getting a bid for regionals.... it was definitely a bitter sweet year... We had a great year with a great record 40-15 but in the end things didn't fall our way...

To the seniors I have loved playing with y'all. It has been very fun!!! Y'all are amazing... Sorry your senior year came to an end on this note... But you have nothing to hold your head down..... Good Luck to you all and wish you the best!!!

As of now I am a senior and next  year someone will be saying bye to my class.. It seems like  yesterday I just came in as a freshmen meeting everyone... Time really does fly just like everyone always says but you never believe it until it happens....

Thanks to all of our fans, y'all have been the best!! Thanks for your support throughout the year!! Next year you will be giving your support in a stadium!! :)

Hope everyone has a great summer!!!

Dear Pirate Fans!!

Bad news, we got 2nd in Conference USA because of winning percentage. Sucks right? Yes I know! tell me how you go 19-5 and win all the series but one and the team that got first is 16-4 and lost 2 series. It doesn't make sense I know.... Well we leave for El Paso tomorrow and we are going to show them who really is the first place team.

This weekend was our senior weekend.. We had our senior banquet on Friday after practice. It was a lot of fun with skits and poem reading which made everyone laugh. On Saturday we played Campbell and VA Tech. We beat Campbell but lost to VA Tech. But that is ok because on Sunday which was Senior Day we won 4-0 to Va Tech. So their glory didn't last long.

We won our last game that will ever be played on that field again. How sad to see that field go it has a lot of memories. But all smiles when next year the stadium will be here.

We love our seniors Angel, Brooke, JJ, and Sarah... It was been a great year with you girls and you all truly will be missed, but season is not over yet. We are winning that Conference Tournament and taking y'all to Regionals. So don't be sad Pirate Fans, the season in not over yet!!!

Be back soon!! :)

Dear pirate fans!!!

Today is Tuesday and it is our 2nd off day of this week... Coaches were extremely nice letting us get Monday and Tuesday both off... But Tomorrow we start back with weights at 11 and practice at 230... For our 3 games this weekend...

Yesterday was a day of rest... I went to my last class of the semester which was at 9... Then I had lunch with my mom, my sissy (Amanda), and my niece Logan.. After lunch I came to the Sun chase pool and laid out with Toni for a while then Toni went to the dog park and I went to the Exchange and laid our with the rest of the team to about 530... After that I had dinner with my diddy, mom, and sister Brandi!

Today I am going to study study and study some more... I really wanna be laying out with the girls.. but I know that I need to study.. But right now I am writing to yall to put off studying a little longer. But I am about to get to it and keep my nose in the book for most of the day!!!

Hope yall have a great dayy!!!

Dear pirate fans!!!

Conference series are officially over for us!! we finished the conference 19-5!! It has been a great year!! This last weekend we went to Marshall... We lost the first game 2-1... then the 2nd game we came back and won 8-3... the last game one Sunday we won 3-1!! We should them why we are a winning team. We can win at home and on the road...

Unfortunately we are waiting to see if Tulsa drops just 1 game.. That is all we need.. UTEP didn't help us out but maybe Southern Miss will or even good old mother nature will rain them out for just one game!! Our conference goes on winning percentage and we of course have played all of our games and they didn't play the series with Marshall due to weather!! We hope something happens because we have worked to hard to not be conference champs... This should be our year!!!

I want to say thanks to the fans that came to Marshall to support us. We always love seeing purple and gold in the stands cheering us on...

This week we get Monday and Tuesday off.. Thank you coaches!! This weekend will be the last home weekend and our seniors last home games!! It will be sad to see our seniors leave.. But they will be opening another chapter in their life's and will always remain a pirate at heart!!! Angel, Brooke, JJ, and Sarah this weekend is for yall and we love you and we will miss you!!!

I am off to bed to get up for my last class of the semester tomorrow!! YAY school is almost over!!

Dear Pirate fans

Today we played UNCG in a double header. We won the first one 4-3 and then came back and won 10-0... The second win felt alot better than the first one. Yesterday we played Carolina... we lost 1-0... It was good games but we had some opportunities taken away from us by the umpires!!

Tomorrow is our practice day. Where we are going to prepare to SWEEP Marshall so that the conference title will be ours and we will be able to call ourselves champions. This is what we have been working so hard for and we are so close we can taste it. We have to stay positive and keep our minds focus on our destiny.

Congrats to the baseball team for beating Carolina 4-0. It was an awesome game.

Thanks to all the fans that keep coming out and supporting us.

Dear Pirate Fans!!!

This weekend we played Memphis where we got the SWEEP!! once again!! YAY!! This makes our 4th sweep this year!! We have one more conference series left against Marshall this weekend. This is a big one! It is really going to separate us from the other teams so we really need to win. But I have the best confidence in our team that we will do great!

Congrats to Toni and Cris for being pitcher and hitter of the week!! Good Job!!!

Tomorrow we play Carolina again hopefully this time we will get the win. Wed we play UNCG its a double header at home at 3 and 5.

Today was our off day which was much needed like always. I only had one class and then I got treatment. I came home and took a nap from 12 to 4. I got awaken by Faith coming through my door.. HAHA thanks Faith! Then I got up and we went to go get our toenails done!! I needed that. Being in cleats all day 24-7 really does some damage on your feet. But They are all smooth and pretty now!! I then came back and went over to the Hawaiians to watch some TV with Toni, Kaui, and Rina!! It was a new One Tree Hill and me, Kaui, and Rina are really big fans of that show.

Now its time to get some rest so we can kick Carolina's butt tomorrow... Going old school tomorrow with the all black uniforms!! :)

Goodnight fans!!

Hey Pirate Fans!!!!

Sorry it has been so long. This has been a real busy week for me! But let me update you!!

Monday was a rest day for me.. we got back Sunday at 10 from El Paso. I went straight home to spend Easter night with my parents. They saved me a plate of my G-ma's great cooking. Which completely made my day! You haven't had great food until you have my G-ma's.

Tuesday we had weights and practice but it rained the whole time we were at practice... But we got through it.

Wednesday I went to the eye doctor because I got a spot on my eye that is known as a pterygium that is caused from sunlight, dirt, and wind. Being I play Softball I'm always in all three. But no big deal I got some drops and the doctor said its not that big and it shouldn't get any bigger. He also said I have 20-15 vision in both eyes!! I was like wow!!! Then we played N.C State where we beat them in 7 innings this time!!! There were a lot of fans there and I want to say thank you for being there. The game was great! We were tied 1-1 going into the bottom of 7th then Cris Boo hits a 2 run homer to end the game!! It was a great shot!!! Congrats and keep working hard Cris Boo!! Toni got 14 strikeouts in the win! so Good Job to you as well!!

Thursday we played Elon... We left G-ville around 1 and coaches got us Jimmy Johns which is a great sub place if you have never been there!! We won 7-5. Kaui and JJ both hit 3-run homers!!! :) Bibee got out last RBI!!

Friday.... we had weights after getting back at 12 but it was only 20mins long.. we stretched alot.. it felt really good.. Then me, jj, marina, percy, cait, bibee, and brooke all went to Todd to eat breakfast like we do every Friday! It was on point. I want to say Thanks to JJ and Percy for helping me with my Spanish!! So glad y'all are a MexiCAN not a MexiCANT!! haha... Then we had practice to prepare for today's game against Memphis!! Today's games are big we need them to form separation from everyone else in Conference! Coach didn't let us for get that either when we all walked into the locker room before practice the word separation was written everywhere!!

Come out today and watch us in action at 1 and 3!!! Hope you have a great day!! Sorry for it taking so long, promise to never do it again!!!

I'll be back quicker next time

Pirate Fans!!!

We got the sweep today. YAY!!! We run ruled them today so we only played 6 innings.. it was 8-0   :)... This was a great weekend... all aspects of our game was there... pitching, hitting, and defense... This is the type of ball that we have been capable of playing... It was truly a team effort this weekend... Everyone contributed in every way...

After the game we went to HAPPY HOUR!! haha well Sonic happy hour where all their drinks and slushies are half price.... It was very enjoyable... After Sonic we went to a Mexican restaurant which was really good.. Although their salsa was kind of hot and everyone that is not use to hot sauce was running around looking for something to drink.... haha especially Jill... But the food was pretty good.... After lunch/dinner we all came back to the hotel, where I took a shower and took a 3 hr nap.. Oh man was it a great nap... I had a really bad dream though so I woke up on bad note but I got in a better mood once I got up and Rina started making me laugh after I told her about my dream... Around 8 we had some class meetings and then once everyone was done we walked across the street to a gas station and got drinks and snacks... we leave at 11 tomorrow morning we will be back in Raleigh at 8....

We will return home on Wednesday where we are playing NC State... Then this weekend we play Memphis who just swept Houston so they are stepping up....

Well I promised Rina we are going to do homework before bed so I am going to keep my word and get to that.. Goodnight Pirate fans... we love all of yall!! :)

Happy Easter, Tiffany
April 10, 2009
Hey everybody!!! I am back  and yes we made it to El Paso TX!! Or should I say Mexico!! haha No but really you can see Mexico from where we are!!!!

WE WON TODAY! so we already took the series... But we are looking to go for that SWEEP tomorrow or as Coach Kee would say it's time for some SWEEP TEA!!! haha!!! Right now we are sitting at 1st place.. thanks to UCF for taking 2 from Marshall... But we have come to the conclusion that we control our own destiny.. it is up to us to make it where we don't need any help from anyone... :)

We play tomorrow at 12 so it will be 2pm back at home.. for those of you who are watching game tracker... clear your schedules at 2pm so you can see us in action.. well on the computer screen.

Rina is my roommate this weekend and she says helllooo everyone... :) Well it's getting late, and we are about to go to sleep so we can re-energize for tomorrow.. I will be back tomorrow with what hopefully will be good news...  :)

Goodnight Pirate fans!!!

Dear Pirate World!!

Hey Yall!!! I hope everybody is doing GREAT!!! I know yall are sad to say goodbye to Angel Nicki Barrella Gomez (sorry Angel you know I had 2) but I promise I am going to do my best to do a good job. :)

My name is Tiffany Shaw. I am from the big town of Bethel North Carolina ha-ha.. I graduate from North Pitt so I am not too far from home. Although sometimes 20mins feels like its hours away.

I am currently in destination 360. My Interpersonal Comm class got out a little early because my teacher was feeling a little under the weather. I was extremely happy that we did get out early because I have a paper due Thursday for that class, but we are leaving at 830 am for UTEP that day so I have to turn it in early. Thank you JESUS I just finished it. Now I am no longer worried or stressing over that.

Today is Tuesday so this means it is my loooonnnnnggggg day. I get up at 6 am for weights then I have classes from 9:30 until 3:15. After class I have to rush to the locker room to get ready for practice at 3:30 yes I am a little late every Tuesday and Thursday but coaches are very understanding :)...

Today at practice we will be preparing to beat down UNC tar heels!! Yes their men's basketball team won a national championship last night which I am extremely happy about. But their softball team on the other hand is ughhhh lameee.... They are what we call prima donnas... we had to basically pull their tarp in the rain when we traveled up there last Thursday because they can't get their hands dirty.... But yeah we play them tomorrow at 4 pm. It should be a great game... I know it will be intense and worth your time... hope you can make it... This game should prepare us to sweep UTEP this weekend, being today is the only day we have to practice.

I hope yall have a great rest of the day!!!

Don't worry I'll be back!!

SOFTBALL BLOG with Angel Barrella-Gonzalez

April 6, 2009

Hey Guys,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but tonight will be my last blog. Have no fear fellow readers I will be sending Tiffany Shaw your way.

It has been quite the day off… my family is still here and I am definitely glad I only have one class and my day is complete by 1:00. Once I got home, we grabbed some lunch (at Jersey Mikes) and then headed for the Atlantic beach. I have never been there and I was glad it turned out to be a beautiful day. Even though the wind was brutal, we were able to spend a couple of hours walking along the shoreline and enjoy the sun.

All right, all I am off to spend the rest of the evening doing homework and spending time with the family before they leave tomorrow. I hope you enjoyed reading about my days and the life of a pirate.

I hope you all have a great week and I look forward to seeing you all Wednesday.

I will talk to you soon,

Angel

April 3, 2009

Hey guys,

Well today was an excellent day!! My exercise phys. test went better then expected J I got to nap... the weather was absolutely beautiful… practice was solid- might I add we are stoked and ready to take 2 tomorrow from Tulsa!! Continuing with a good dinner at cubbies with some of the girls and catching some of the south central vs. rose softball game where we watched bird's sister (who is also very bird like) ball it up! After the game, Percy and I headed to relay for life where we saw Cris, Riggs, Tiff, Toni, and later joined by Sissy, Jill and Lil-bird. I have never been to a relay for life and it is AMAZING. Seeing everyone walk for such a good cause, tents set up, and booths with food, face painting, games, and dancing, I felt like I could walk for hours!

What I am excited for most is that I get to see my mom and siblings tomorrow! It has been a while since they have been to Greenville and months since I have seen them.

Ok pirate fans I am going to get to bed but please come out to the softball field tomorrow at 1:00 and 3:00 and show your support as we go for the series on day 1!!!

Please continue to keep Ms. Jean in your prayers.

I will talk to you all soon,

Angel

March 30, 2009

Hey Guys,

I am back! We started the week playing UNCW on Wednesday where in 2 games 3 teammates blasted a total of 4 homeruns off the opposing pitcher to complete our sweep off of the sea hawks.  As the weekend approached, we thought our momentum may have been stopped by the weather however it turned out to be an excellent weekend for softball. Powerhouse pitching and timely hitting allowed us to sweep UCF. As usual, we look forward to our day off (Monday). I took full advantage, having class at 9, and since Rose was closed this allowed me to take a lovely 2 hr nap. I must say that was the highlight of my day! Tomorrow is Tuesday and starts our refocus to gear up for nationally ranked Chapel Hill.  As always, we can use our fans cheering us on to victory on Wednesday 6pm, @ Chapel Hill.

Please continue to keep Ms. Jean in your thoughts and Prayers.

Ill talk to you all soon

March 25, 2009

Hey Guys,

I am still trying to figure out where the past 4 days have gone!? I feel like it was just yesterday that we were getting back into Greenville still excited about our big weekend. Yes all, our first sweep comes off UAB on the road, and let me tell you we look to do the same this weekend at home v.s. UCF.

Let us walk through the past couple of days… Monday is our day off, and somehow they go the fastest! I go to exercise phys. At 9, and coach Koz I know you love it however this class might be the death of me! After class, I head to Rose until one, whether teaching or assisting it is never a full moment, I am constantly learning from these kids. From Rose it is to the training room so I can grace Jen with my presents and get treatment. After treatment, homework and errands take up the rest of the day and before I know it its 9 o’clock. Where has the day done!?! Tuesday and Thursday are my long days- we start the morning off nice and early with weights at 6:30, coach wheel is such a joy in the morning ;-). From weights, I have class from 8- 1:45 shovel a quick lunch, and then head to treatment and practice. I do leave practice an hour early only to go to night class (trust me I would rather be at practice!). And once again before I know it its 9 o’clock, and I cant wait for bed. Which brings us to now. J I am actually sitting in exercise phys writing to you all and thinking about today’s day at Wilmington. We go to their house for a double header at 4 and 6. Even though their record is not great, we cannot take them lightly. As coach would say, “go for the jugular!”

All right all, class is about to end and I have some running around to do prior to boarding the bus. I hope you have a great day!

Ill talk to you soon

March 22, 2009

Hey Guys!

Yesterday was quite a day! We were the first team to take 2 on the road on the first day (although Tulsa was soon to follow). Coach told us before we even started that if we take two we head to the cheesecake factory for a nice dinner. With a little extra external motivation we played well. The first game we went into extra innings, Toni pitched well and we won 3-1. The second game we also won 3-1 and Brooke pitched a great game.

So off we went to the cheesecake factory where we waited about 2 hours before we could get a table. My table consisted of Kaui, Brooke, Jill, Teenie, Percy, and myself and our waitress, named Alex. She was very funny and clearly loved her job. Today we finish up our series with UAB at 12pm. From there we bus to Atlanta and fly to Raleigh. The last leg of our trip busing back to Greenville with a sweep in our pocket! Ok off to catch the bus, wish us luck.

Have a great day!!

Talk to you all soon,

Angel

March 19, 2009

Hey Guys!!

So if you have not heard we beat state last night in an A-MAZING game that went 10 innings. Let me rephrase- we exploded in the 10th inning with 5 runs. Let me tell you all what happened... I wish I could say I played a role in the madness but I was more of a run a little and then watch/jump/yell with excitement. So I was on second due to my shu shu hit the inning before. Cris led off hitting to the shortstop and ill say due to both of us using our blazing speed she took her eye off the ball just enough for Cris to be safe J Cris continues to show her speed and steals second! Toni steps up to the plate and yet another ball in play to the second basemen- safe & safe! A run scores and runners on first and third. Sarah showed some serious swag and sure enough hits a shot to right center allowing Cris to score. 2-0! Kaui next up, they should of known she was going to hit it- def. didn’t D it up... and Toni scores! (keep in mind 0 outs) Rina then continues the explosion with a screaming me-me (I very well may have butchered that spelling) double to left, scoring another 2 runs! Just like that 5-0. Also I must say Toni brought her A game pitched an awesome game- not allowing a base runner until the bottom of the 8th inning!!

I would like to give a shout out and a thank you to the BOYFRIENDS that were in the stands, we loved the noise, excitement, and presence you guys brought!

In the dugout – V and Brooke came up with 2 fabulous cheers that you all we will hearing shortly!

So tomorrow bright and early we leave for UAB, we will take on the blazers this weekend for yet another crucial conference series. We are ready to take it to em on the road.

Goodness I feel like I am on a roll.. I want to share with you that today for the first time I taught in AG Cox middle school and had a great time. This was the first time I have had a chance to work with 8th graders and they are at the in between age where they still want to learn and have fun but also think they are to cool for P.E. I had one girl who said “I’m not doing this today” the second she walked in the door – by the time the warm-up was over she was running around and ready to go. We all had a blast!

OK now that I have updated you on my life, I must finish my paper that’s due by 12, pack, and get to bed.

I hope you have a great rest of the week!

I will talk to you soon

March 16, 2009

Hey Guys!!

Sorry I have not written in a while! We are back from Southern Miss and it has been a pretty long weekend… between the on and off rain, and the end result it is not exactly how we wanted to leave Hattiesburg, and to top it off rolling into Greenville at 2:30 this morning.  Followed by class at 9:00, student teaching from 10-1, getting treatment after that was the first time I had a chance to breathe all day. But that was short lived… because the library awaited me. I had to finish… and by finish I really mean start… my unit plan on dance (a lovely fourteen step, 8 hours, totaling 50 pages of dance lessons and content).  So it is now 10:00 and my day has come to an end.  Tomorrow starts a brand new week of practice and getting back to work… we set our sights on heading to N.C. State Wednesday at 6pm.

No worries pirate fans we have not lost sight of any of our goals and we will keep working hard every day to continue getting where we want to be.

Ok it’s time to head home, recharge the batteries, and say goodnight

Until next time

Angel

Hey Guys!!

Even with spring break, I still some how lose track of the days! I have not even started on work yet and it is already about half way over.

WELL for all that were not there, we had a very good weekend, stuck to our plan, overall played very well, strung hits together and took the series from Houston!! We enjoyed our wins for a solid 24 hours and then yesterday got back to work for this upcoming week. This week has been beautiful and today is yet another beautiful day to play softball.

Today starts our Pirate Clash tournament between Toledo, Georgetown, and us. Both of these teams are not to be over looked and we will need to bring our A game. We face Georgetown at 2:00 and Toledo at 4:00. Please come out and show your support!

Ok off to treatment followed by a lovely lunch –picked by our sophomores- at tropical smoothie, and then off to the field for game time!

I will talk to you all soon

Hey Guys!!!

I hope you have all enjoyed Brooke (aka Hill aka Brooklyn) Swann’s blogs for the past month however her time has come to an end and now its time I take over!

My name is Angel-Nicole Barrella-Gonzalez… I know your telling me!! Angel works just fine! I am a senior from Long Island, New York. I know when you think of New York the first thing you think about is the city, but I am not from there… I am really 45 minutes east of there, right in the middle of Long Island. I am a P.E./Health major and will be student teaching at J.H. Rose in the fall and graduating in December. I am 1 of 4 siblings Amber 13, Alexis 11, and Peter Jr. who is 8.

Ok enough about me and more about tomorrow! Before I forget games are at 12:00 & 2:00!!!

We open up with the cougars this weekend and let me tell you boy are we ready!! This might just be the biggest series of the year and it comes our first weekend out! We have had solid practices, playing well, and we are coming together as a whole! We are all extremely amped and all set to send all of Houston home with 3 big Loses while we throw up our 3 BIG DUBS!!!

WE RESPECT THE BIG CATS BUT WE DEFINITELY DON’T FEAR YOU!! WE ARE GOING FOR THE SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP!!! And for those of you who want to chant the sweep’s- it is very similar to the “tink tink tink tink”

Goodness writing that got me heated! I’m going to try and calm down and get to bed

BIG DAY TOMORROW!!  Please come out and show your support!!!

I will talk to you all soon!

SOFTBALL BLOG with Brooke Swann

March 3, 2009
Hi bloggers!!

Well, I know this may be sad news for some, but this will be my last blog! I'm passing over the honors to another fellow senior, Miss Angel Barella!! (I would write her WHOLE name, but I'm not sure if there is enough space and she may hurt me! ha-ha) It's been a great honor to keep you all up to date on our softball lives.

I'm so glad to finally be getting back into the swing of things this week from being sick last week! The only bad thing about it is that it's FREEZING outside!! I hear its suppose to warm up this weekend, so I'm excited for that! I think it snowed everywhere BUT Greenville! Our game was cancelled for tomorrow because Elon got bad weather. My mom texted me a picture of my backyard at home on Monday morning and there was 8 inches of snow!!!

So the highlight of my week so far has been the fact that Vanessa's parents are in town and her mom just keeps cooking!! I don't want to make anyone jealous but let me tell you...ITS AMAZING!! I have a new favorite meal...Tostados!! They are Great! I think I may have passed my sickness on to Vanessa so she has been under the weather so that means more of her moms cooking for me! :) They also went to the store for us and I think we have enough food to last us til next year!! I love when our parents come into town. You never have to spend any money because they are always feeding you and going to the store or shopping for you!

It's suppose to be nice this weekend, so I hope to see everyone out at our games on Saturday and Sunday. We open up conference this weekend with rival Houston starting at 12 noon on Saturday! It has been a pleasure being your blogger for the last couple of weeks! Hope to see you all around the softball field!!

LOVE,
Brooke #9

Hey bloggers!

Sorry it has been so long since I last wrote, but I have been a little under the weather this week with the flu. It definitely not a fun thing to have :( I'm finally feeling better, which is a good thing, because I am tired of sitting in my apartment! The good thing was my mom and granny came yesterday for the games and took care of me!!

I had to watch the games yesterday via gametracker and now I know what its like for people to watch us when we are on the road. It is so nerve-racking! Sometimes it takes a bit for each pitch or the innings to load so I was very anxious while trying to watch it! But I do want to say congrats to the girls for two great games this weekend! Our bats came alive again on that first game, which I was so glad to see! Congrats JJ on the homerun! :) Since this weather is so crappy, it looks as though we wont get to finish this weekend of play. We start mid week games this week...we head to Elon on Tuesday for a single game.

I also wanted to give a big THANK YOU to all the parents who have provided us with the cookout this afternoon. I am glad it could all be worked out to still have it, since the weather isn't really cooperating with us.

Again, sorry for the delay in blogs....I'll be sure to post again very soon! Until next time bloggers....

LOVE,
Brooke

Hey bloggers!!

We are now on the bus back to Greenville...10 hours :( BUT the good news is there is a great feel of relief and excitement on the way back! We went 3-1 this weekend, with our loss being 1-0 to Michigan, which was the #4 team in the nation. I also want to commend our hitters this weekend! We CRUSHED today!! We made a bet with coach Koz, if we get to .290, she has to dye her hair blonde!!
They are coming for you :)

Also, we have a new tribal ritual where we are so called burning our bats and gloves before the game!! Everyone is going to have to check it out next weekend . :)

I also want to thank Faiths mom , miss Cheryl, for our goodie bags she made us!! They definitely came in handy on the bus and the rice krispy treats were AMAZING!!!

Hope to see you all at the games next weekend...so excited to see my family!!
Until next time pirate bloggers....

Hello again bloggers!

Well the rain didn't really help us out today for practice but we still managed to get a lot done today. We are preparing for our trip down to Florida State, where we open up with the #4 team in the nation. Playing this caliber of ball is only going to help us in the long run, so we are excited about that.

Today at practice...I got the honor of having Teenie catch me!! She has some of the best framing techniques I have ever seen and she is a GREAT pitch caller! (she loves my changeup!) The gear was a little big for her but she did a great job...thanks Ida May! :)

So I got to experience my first taste of Parker's BBQ tonight. I cant believe after being here for 4 years , I have never been to Parkers and eaten. Riggs decided that we should eat there tonight and I have found a new favorite place! It was amazing!!

Well I'm going to bed...we have weights in the early morning! Cant wait to see coach wheel....NOT!! haha....jk......until next time....

Hey bloggers!!

Well, we didn't have the most successful weekend, but it was a good opportunity for us. For those who didn't know, we got to play the #1 team in the nation today, Alabama. We didn't win, but we did go past 5 innings with them, something no other team there did. We had to rush after the game because we were cutting it close to catch our flight!! I know what its like to be stuck in an airport all night :( us seniors had to go through that our freshman year!

After this weekend, we have some things we need to work on and fix before we head  down to Florida State this coming weekend!!

Oh and Happy Birthday to Percy!!
(Even though its a day early)

 Until next time pirate fans....

Love,

Brooke

Hi Bloggers!

This has become such a busy week for me!! I have so much work that is due this week and next AND we are on the road this weekend! I dont handle stress very well either! Also, the weather this week has been FABULOUS!! I cant wait for the softball tan to start! :)

We leave for Alabama tomorrow! First away games of the season...it's always fun to get out of Greenville for a few days! And Alabama was just pushed up in the polls and is now ranked #1 in the country! Its going to be good for us to play teams at this caliber. It only helps us get better in the long run. Reminds me of my freshman year when we beat California, who was ranked #6 at the time!

Ok, so Vanessa and I got a new crockpot and we made our first meal in it last night! Simply AMAZING!! We are obsessed with the food network. We make something new every week. Thanks to Bobby Flay, Paula Dean and 30-minute meals, we dont have to eat roman noodles every night! This is one reason why my jeans dont fit! haha....Also, living with V, I have found a new love for hot sauce. I used to have to eat everything mild and couldnt stand anything spicy. Now I coat my food with HOTTT sauce from the mexican supermercado! We have also made our own recipe book with different things we have tried and made. Our fan favorite is "V and Brooke's Infamous Cheese Biscuits." If you ever need a new recipe, let us know!!

Well im going to do some work before my volleyball class with Erin!! :) Ill be sure to keep you all posted on our games this weekend!! Until next time....

Hi again bloggers!

We just finished up our first weekend of play. We went 3-1 on the weekend. Not too bad for first games but we still have things we have to work on and prepare for when we head down to Alabama this coming weekend. Tomorrow is our day off, which is always something we look forward to, even though some of the team have a busy day of classes.

I want to send out a special "THANK YOU" to all the parents that helped organize and give us a cookout after our last game today. We always look forward to free food, as well as home cooked meals!! :)

I'm going to finish up some homework now and relax! and by the way, Nice Job announcing this weekend E. St! :)
Until next time....

Hey Bloggers!

Tomorrow is the big day....season opener!!! Everyone is excited, especially since coaches told us we get to make up new cheers and a new warmup routine. I'm excited that it will finally be in the 60's and 70's this weekend instead of the 30's like it has been all week! Practicing in that kind of weather can be brutal! I'm also glad that my parents are here! When I was a freshman, I didn't care about going home or seeing anyone, I was all about college! Now, being a senior, I miss home more and count down the days 'til I get to see my family. They took V and I to our favorite place tonight to eat...LOGANS!!! And the BEST part about them coming is all the food mom bakes and brings me :) :) :) Also, Percy got a big surprise this week....her parents showed up at weights Thursday morning and surprised her! Needless to say, baby herc was ecstatic to see them.

I went and saw Riggs tonight. If you didn't know, she had surgery today on her ankle. She is moving around well and seems to be in high spirits, hopefully she remembers me being there tomorrow! :)

Well, I'm about to call it a night since we have a big day tomorrow! Hope to see everyone out there cheering on the Lady Pirates! :)

Until next time...

Hey Bloggers!

I know "Teenie's World" is going to be a hard act to follow and some of you may be sad that it is gone, but I'm going to do my best to keep you up to date on our softball lives.

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Brooke Swann. Most of the girls call me "Brooklyn" or as Teenie calls me, the "grandmamma" of the team since I'm the oldest. I am a pitcher from Callao, Virginia. I'm pretty positive, other than my family, no one knows where this town is. We are a town with one stop light (which recently came within the last couple of years) and no fast food. So being from such a small town, I think Greenville is HUGE!! And most of the girls from California make fun of me because I think so! I'm a Sports Studies major and Business minor. I will be graduating in May. Yup, somehow I managed to graduate in 4 years! I guess all those semesters in study hall helped! :) I have a little brother, or I guess I should say younger since he is 6'5". Blaine is 18 and about to graduate from high school in June!

This weekend is the start of our season. We are all so excited! We finally get to start playing games instead of practicing on the weekends. Coaches issued us all of our game/travel gear on Monday, so it made things a little more real. I can't believe this is my senior season!! Time really flies! I agree with what Sarah said on the earlier blogs, that it was just like yesterday that I was moving into the dorms and meeting JJ, Angel, V, and Sarah, even though JJ never said "Hi" when we were introduced...AND we were roommates! (haha)

Well, hopefully everyone can make it out to our games this weekend to support us!!

Until next time....

Hey all,

I know your probably thinking, "Teenie, where the heck have you been, I've missed you so much," and I know I'm really sorry. School and everything is just crazy right now. I'm trying to get on track with all my classes, and then I'm trying to get myself prepared for these games coming up. 7 DAYS. I'm way excited. I'm so ready to cheer. Haha. We got some more work to do as a team but I think if we get over that infamous wall, we'll be good.

Anyways, what's been going on in Teenie World you ask. Hmm well hold on skipper, I'll tell you. CLASS, STUDY HALL, SOFTBALL, SLEEP... Not that much haw, with the exception of so random texts and multiple trips to Todd dinning hall, my life hasn't been that interesting. Haha. Oh wait I forgot to tell you. I'm getting married!! Haha Not really but i think I'm in love. I was watching MTV True Life the other day and I found my match. His name is Jose, he's Puerto Rican and he's from New York, he's  perfect. Jose and I are going to have beautiful black and Puerto
Rican babies. Haha. He doesn't know it yet but we are. And I'm bilingual so it'd be perfect. So after college I'm moving to NY to find him, sorry mom, sorry dad. haha.
Well my teacher just got here so I gotta go.

Until next time, devoted fans and readers

CHOW!!!

Oh yeah.

NOOO CONDITIONING TODAY!!!

January 23, 2009
Hello World, I'm BAAAAACK!!

Well I just finished weights today. Everyone loves Friday morning weights. We have it right after the football players. That's our motivation to wake up at 6am. We try to get there a little bit earlier than usual so we can get our assigned seats right by the door. You get a pretty good view from those seats. :)

Anyways, I know its has been along time since I have spoken to you all, I apologize for that. Honestly, between the SNOW and everything else I totally forgot. But I'm back, no worries, you can continue to go on with your lives now that you can read my blogs.
Anyways what's been going on in "Teenie World" you ask? Well for starters it snowed, that was probably the highlight of this week. It snowed soo much. And on top of that school got cancelled for like 2 days. So we had an extra MLK weekend, which was nice. All the softball girls went tubing down this big hill we found in the forest by Best Western across from Greenville Blvd. It was so much fun. Pictures will definitely be coming up soon on that event. You know what's pretty crazy, all us softball girls spend so much time together on the field and finally when we get a day off we're all back together again. Haha, we're like a big happy ethnic family!! Hmm.
What else happened this week so far...Oh how can I forget the Inauguration. My baby Obama was looking so handsome on TV. Haha. Ladies you have to admit, he is kinda attractive for an older man, even for a president. Haha. Anyways that was fun to watch.

Now I have to try to learn. But until next time America.. .

God is Love

Hello Devoted Readers,

I know its been awhile, but I'm back. And since then life in "Teenie World" has been crazy. Between 2 fitness test, 3 days of practice, 2 days of school and a lot of soreness, I am finally getting back in the swing of things.

On Thursday we had the infamous mile test ,of course there's the up and down for that test. Then on Friday, we had our first team practice. It was good to get back into softball and to practice with everyone. Again on Saturday we had another practice followed by the sprint test before Sunday's practice.

Today was our day off finally. My body hurts so bad, and we haven't even been practicing for a full week..

Anyways I have to get going, my show Real Chance of Love Finale is about to come on.

Oh yeah, weights tomorrow. ugggh. Coach Wheel. 630am, cant wait.

Until then Pirate World.
I'll be back.
love always- the teeniest tiniest Teenie

Have a great day!

January 9, 2009

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It's about that time that we all come back from paradise and come to reality. What better way to do it, than reading "my blogs" that I write every week to tell you about life in " Teenie World"

For those who don't know me, I'm Christina Merrida also know as "Teenie" (the nickname is pretty self explanatory). I play outfield and I'm a "big bad" junior this year. I'm majoring in Broadcast Journalism. I want to be a TV host or some type of broadcaster for sports.

Anyways, I'm a California girl. Northern California, near Sacramento, Woodland to be exact. My mom, Linda, is a PE teacher, athletic director and she coaches softball at the local high school. My dad, Bryan ("Big Black") works for PG&E as a meter reader. I'm technically an only child, if you don't count my dog Kobe.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm kind of glad to be back to Greenville. Woodland gets kind of boring sometimes and its way too cold. Now that I'm back, I'm ready to see everyone and to get things back in gear.

Well I'm going to go unpack .
Until Next time, GOOD BYE PIRATE WORLD

Love always- TEENIE

Hey hey,

I hope everyone had a great break and holiday season!!! I sure did, except for the fact that evidently Knoxville is the new Seattle….it rained literally the entire time I was home!! Other than that my break was wonderful and relaxing!! I got back to Greenville last night just in time to run our two mile fitness test, which is this afternoon....what a joy!!!!

Tomorrow we get back in to the swing of things with both school and practice starting. I am really excited about this season, and can’t wait to get started!!

Well, I am hope everyone had a safe break, but I better go drink some water and get my mind set for this two mile test!!

Talk to you soon,

Sarah

December 8, 2008

Hey hey,

Three exams down three to go!!! Surprisingly enough they are going better than expected!! I have gotten two of the hardest out of the way including physics, so I am ecstatic. The last three shouldn’t be too bad so I am not as stressed as I was last week and over the weekend.

Well, not only did I survive the first half of exams, but I made it through the 5k on Sunday too! Although I wasn’t feeling great, and the wind was ridiculous it still went pretty well. Everyone finished the race, and did a great job!!

After the race we had our team Christmas dinner, which was super fun and really really good!!! We exchanged gifts with our Secret Santa, which is always fun. Brooke drew my name and she made my dog, Moose, a jersey to wear to the games in the spring, and she gave me a gift certificate….awesome!!!

It is time for a nap so I have to say goodbye for now, but no worries I will blog again soon!

Talk to you all later,

Sarah B.

December 1, 2008

Hey,

Hope everyone had an outstanding Thanksgiving, I know I did!!! I am pretty sure I had a continuous meal for 3 days straight! I swear when I go home my mom strictly just shoves food in my face!! Haha not really, but she does a really good job of having all my favorites so I can’t resist! The trip home was long, but definitely worth it. I got to be with my entire family, and hang out with my two baby nieces! They are hysterical and so much fun to be around. There was only one bad thing about the break, and that was the ride back. It normally takes about 7 hours, but the traffic was so bad it definitely took 9!!  Even with the long drive back I couldn’t have asked for a better break!

Now that we are back it is study, study, study!!! Exams start Friday, and of course I have two Friday!!! Exams last through the 12th of December, and then it is Christmas break!!! I can’t believe how fast this year is going; it is so crazy, and really sad!!! Well, wish me luck with my exams it is going to be a rough couple days!

Softball wise, we are on our own from now until we come back in January. For Coaches this is probably a really scary thought, but I have faith that we will all train appropriately and come back ready for the season! Like I told you last blog we were a part of a Thanksgiving canned food drive the week before the break. We did awesome bringing in over 900 cans!! Thanks to all who help contribute! This Sunday we are all participating in the Reindeer Dash for Cash 5k, which should be a lot of fun!! Other than that, we are just studying and training hard the remainder of the semester!

Well, it’s time for me to go. I will get back with you yall soon. In the meantime wish me luck with exams, and I hope everyone has a great week!!

Bye for now,

Sarah B.

November 17, 2008

Hello all,

It’s an exciting week to be on the softball team because it’s Pirate Clash time…GO SABERS!!! For those who don’t know, Pirate Clash is an annual battle between half the team designated as Skulls and the other half as Sabers. We compete against each other in various relay races, games, obstacle courses, etc. The team that scores the most points, wins the clash, and therefore gets all of the bragging rights!! Pirate Clash also signifies the end of our fall practice and conditioning.

Don’t forget that this week ECU Athletics is hosting a Thanksgiving can drive, and we are working hard to collect as many cans as possible with hopes of providing food to those in need. Be sure and check out your pantry and see if you have any cans to contribute. The cans may be dropped off in the softball office until November 21. Any and all of your help is appreciated!!

Well, it’s time for me to go to skills so I must let you all go, but I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!!!

GO SABERS!

Talk to you later,

Sarah

November 11, 2008

Hey everybody!

Sorry it has been a couple days, but how about the Pirates and another great overtime victory!!! Last week was a busy one, I had three test uggghh!!! Physics is killing me, and it doesn’t help that I am in there with Rina and Kaui who get 100s on EVERYTHING!!! Haha they will probably be really mad at me for that comment, oops!! Anyways, I would say that I am glad that last week and all of that studying is out of the way, but it never stops. This week I have to do an oral presentation, which is a terrible experience and extremely nerve racking!!!! Also, last week coaches were super nice (not that there not always super nice) and gave us three days off, which would have been really cool, but I spent all of the time I would have been playing studying, and I would much rather be playing!

This week we are back in to skills, workouts, and conditioning. Speaking of conditioning, man has that been hard! We have been doing the sprinting thing, and well I am more of a distance girl so it’s been pretty tough. Coach Koz does a really good job of making sure that it is something different each time, which is really good…hard, but good… because if we had to sprint poles every conditioning day I think I would die (Coach Koz, don’t get any ideas)!

Well, it’s time for me to go work on that presentation, but I hope everyone has a great rest of the week, and I’ll talk to you later!

November 3, 2008

Hey there bloggers,

My name is Sarah Bibee and I am a senior from Knoxville, TN. Okay, so first off, I can’t believe I am a senior…soo weird. I can remember meeting JJ, V, Angel, and Brooke (the rest of the seniors) like it was yesterday, and now it is nearly half way through our senior year L. Time flies when you are playing softball!!!

We have been working hard this fall and our 45 days of practice came to a close yesterday as we finished our team marathon. Yes, I said marathon, ALL 26.2 miles! In order to earn our sweats we had to run this marathon in 3 hours and 30 min (8min pace). We did this by each running 1.5 miles, which combined to be 24 miles, and then ran the last 2.2 as a team. We each ran our 1.5 miles so fast that we had ample time to run the last 2.2, thank goodness!!! So, we earned our sweats, which we were pumped about because it is getting pretty cold outside!!!

Thus far this fall, we have done a lot of practicing, conditioning, and weight lifting in order to prepare for this upcoming season. The 2009 schedule is up, check it out!! On top of this we also played 8 games. We played double headers against Elon, UNCG, and Pitt C.C. We split against Elon and UNCG, and swept Pitt this past Saturday. We will now go back in to our skills workouts, which is where we practice in smaller groups rather than our entire team at once.

This year’s team is looking good, and our schedule for 2009 is both exciting and challenging!!! We will continue to work hard for the remainder of the fall in anticipation for the spring!! Thanks for all your support, and GO PIRATES!!!

Talk to you later, Sarah
